Are you ready for a treat??  This is one of my favorite engagement sessions of all time.  Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love northern Michigan.  Being there is like church for me... I honestly feel nearer to God when I am there.  With that feeling comes a peace that just floods my soul and it restores me.  I spent summer after summer on the shores of Platte Lake and Lake Michigan.  Loving that area is just in my blood, I suppose.  I may be a little dramatic about this subject, but I feel that being Up North can heal a person in ways they didn't realize they needed healing.  It's a place to find yourself, if you're a little lost.  Like I said... dramatic... but maybe a tiny bit true.

Elizabeth and Mike were not lost at all when we first met and discussed their wedding plans.  They knew exactly what they wanted, where they wanted it and when.  When Elizabeth said, "I was raised in Cedar and I want to have our engagement session on and around Leelanau Peninsula," I knew it was game over for me.  Yes, yes, yes... I'd drive up there in a heartbeat!!!  Elizabeth planned out an entire tour of the area, along with printable maps and other fun details.  We hit places I'd never been... and I've been all over up there.  I felt like I was on a scavenger hunt!  She had all sorts of hidden spots on her map and although it was quite a photo schedule, we made it all happen.  We even got to spend some beach time with their sweet pup, Bella.  It was a day filled with surprises (snow!), sand, rock skipping, beer sipping, laughter and love.  It was a blast.

Of course, any photo session on the beach at Lake Michigan has to involve skipping some stones!  And petoskeys.

Next, we headed to a historic little spot along the lakeshore, Bufka Farm.  The farm was built in the 1850's and features so much charm and quirkiness.  Elizabeth had originally wanted to drive to Traverse City and hit the Jolly Pumpkin, their favorite brewery.  Instead, she decided to bring Jolly Pumpkin to Bufka Farm (Mike loved this idea!).  They wandered around the grounds, enjoying their treat and each other.

Finally, we stopped at a roadside apple orchard near Cedar, where the apple blossoms were in full swing.  The perfect end to our amazing tour!
