I haven't done a Venue Spotlight post in a long while, so let's dive into one of my local favorites!  Grand Ledge Opera House, situated in the middle of Grand Ledge on the banks of the Grand River, is such a unique treasure.  It was built in the 1880's and has been many things over the years: a roller rink, movie theater, furniture store, warehouse and obviously, an Opera House.  Now, it's a non-profit run by members of the community and is supported by rental fees for events and contributing local businesses.  It's a piece of history that truly belongs to the community, which is a big part of why I love it so much.  It's also quite adorable and is perched high above the river, which affords wedding guests spectacular views of the water.  Planning a wedding here allows for indoor or outdoor options and while most couples take advantage of the terrace by the water, if it should turn rainy, the lower level offers sheltered ceremony space.  Upstairs, the Grand Hall offers a beautiful room with high ceilings and a balcony area to accommodate up to 240 guests.  Downtown Grand Ledge and the surrounding sandstone cliff areas make this location a perfect one for a very unique wedding.  If you are hunting for a Lansing area wedding venue that has charm and convenience in an adorable downtown setting, be sure to check out Grand Ledge Opera House!
