So last week I showed you the first part of Kate and John's gorgeous wedding at the Kellogg Center on the campus of Michigan State University.  You can see that post and find out more about why I love the Kellogg Center so much, here.  To pick up where that left off, we find ourselves at MSU's Spartan Statue, aka Sparty.  I've captured photos here a bazillion times over my years as a Lansing wedding photographer.  I've seen a bit of everything at this location... one situation sticks out in my mind over the years.  EMS was called for a bridesmaid who fell off Sparty while attempting to climb while intoxicated.  Yes!  This happened, sadly.  This was not a member of the bridal party I was capturing at the time, but it did cause my bridal party to relocate our photo location to avoid the EMS scene.  Thankfully, that bridesmaid seemed to only suffer bumps and bruises.  But seriously!!  Please be smart on a wedding day.  Climbing any structure while in heels and not entirely sober is likely not the best idea.  Be safe so you can celebrate with your friends, instead of hanging out in the hospital.  :)

Kate and John's portrait at Sparty was fun and quick.  I like to have everyone squeeze in for a simple shot filled with energy and move on to the next location.  Mostly because Sparty is in high demand and lingering for photos isn't realistic.  Following that, we hit another Michigan State favorite- Beaumont Tower.  This area is just stunning for photos and is a very easy one to hit on campus.  We didn't have much time to hang around before it was off to the Kellogg Center for the reception.  The room was detailed in soft florals and was perfectly suited for their elegant wedding.  Kellogg offers uplighting in their event rooms, which highlights the chosen palette beautifully.  The dancefloor remained full most of the night, with Kate and her dad getting the celebration started with some spirited polka tucked into their first dance.  As the night drifted on, Kate and John spent most of it firmly on the dancefloor, surrounded by loved ones.  What a perfect start to their journey!
